About the Role

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and compliant end-to-end payroll for a weekly pay run of 800 - 900 employees. You'll be hands-on with payroll processing, Kronos time & attendance, reconciliations, and payroll reporting, while also supporting continuous improvement and system optimisation.

You'll work closely with HR, Finance, and operational leaders to ensure payroll runs smoothly and provides reliable reporting and insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end weekly payroll (800 - 900 employees) accurately and on time.
  • Maintain and validate time & attendance data in Kronos, resolving discrepancies proactively.
  • Prepare payroll reports for the Payroll Manager, Finance, and site leaders.
  • Complete payroll reconciliations including PAYG, superannuation, terminations, leave, and deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with awards, EBAs, Fair Work requirements, and internal policies.
  • Assist with payroll process improvements, system enhancements, and reporting optimisation.
  • Utilise Excel (including advanced functions and reporting) to analyse payroll data, identify trends, and support decision-making.
  • Assist with process improvements and contribute to payroll system upgrades, transitions, and implementations (e.g., T&A, HRIS, payroll system enhancements).
  • Respond to payroll queries promptly, providing high-quality customer service across the business.

About You
You're an experienced Payroll Specialist who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in running an accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll function. You're confident with systems, love solving payroll puzzles, and are comfortable working with large volumes.

You'll bring:

  • 3 - 5 years experience in a dedicated payroll role.
  • Strong end-to-end payroll experience, ideally in high-volume environments.
  • Kronos experience (T&A essential).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including reporting and reconciliation.
  • A solid understanding of awards, EBAs, payroll legislation, and compliance.
  • Experience preparing payroll reports and supporting leadership with insights.
  • A proactive, detail-focused approach and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
